KEYS

Keys are used to unlock or lock things (Doors, chests, gates, etc).  Each key
belongs to a unique lock.  The LOCK and UNLOCK commands are used to operate
keys.  There is a Map & Key shop in Midgaard (south, west, north from Market 
Square) that trades keys.  Also, keys are occasionally discarded in donation 
rooms, so you might check there when searching for lost keys.  You cannot 
rent/camp or otherwise leave the game with keys - if you do so then the keys 
will automatically be removed from your inventory and replaced in the world for
others to use.
