Kallisti runs on plain text over the internet — nothing to install, no signup form, no fees. Point any MUD client, or just your browser, at the address below and you are two minutes from your first character.

Three ways in
In your browser
Nothing to install. Open the Grapevine web client, find Legends of Kallisti, and play from any device — plenty of our regulars do.
Good for: trying the game right now.
Mudlet
Free and open source, on Windows, macOS and Linux. Kallisti speaks GMCP, so Mudlet can show your health, your room and your enemies live. Make a profile with the address above and connect.
Good for: playing properly.
In a terminal
The classic way. TinTin++ is the connoisseur's client, or go bare:
telnet kallistimud.com 4000
Good for: purists and screen readers.
If you write scripts
Kallisti publishes what is happening to you as structured data, so a client can draw bars, panels and maps instead of scraping text. Two protocols carry it, both open standards, and you can use either or both. Neither is tied to a particular client.
GMCP
Structured packages. One message carries your whole set of vitals, your worn equipment by slot, the room and its exits, your group, your affects. Nineteen packages in all.
Good for: panels, maps, anything with structure.
MSDP
Flat variables. Ask to be told about HEALTH and the server tells you whenever it changes. Simpler, older, and there are 111 of them.
Good for: a few numbers with no ceremony.
Your first minutes
- 1
Connect and follow the prompts to create an account. One account holds all of your characters, and what you unlock is shared between them.
- 2
Roll a character. Browse the races and classes first if you like to plan; you pick a specialisation later, so nothing is locked in on day one.
- 3
Type help newbie in game, and ask on the newbie channel — someone is nearly always about. The help database is here too.
The realm is waiting.
