CASTING MAGIC "CASTING LEVEL"
For those who are members of a magic using class to use your spells you
CAST them. See the HELP entry for individual spells for usage instructions.
The success of a cast spell is determined by how well it has been practiced
(some types of equipment (i.e. metal,) can hamper the success of a spell).
Remember, mages must be holding their spellbook or spellstaff to cast, priests,
demoniacs, dreadlords, and pladins a holy symbol and valkyries a charm.
You practice spells at your guild. Type GUILD for directions to your guild.
Higher spell ranks will increase both your casting level and, in most cases,
the spell effect. To increase your rank in a spell, you just spend additional
skillpoints on the same spell.
Most combat spells do not need a <target> if you are engaged in battle.
Many spells (such as heal spells) will affect the caster if no target is
specified.
Finally, if you want to cast a spell at a lower rank than your current max
rank then you can specify that last.
Usage: cast 'spell name' <target>
Additionally, most spells have a shortcut for usage like: zap <target>
See HELP SPELL ALIASES for a complete list.
Type SPELLS <class> to list all spells for a particular class.
Type PRACTICE to list all the spells and skills you currently have learned.
Type SPELLCOSTS for a list of mana costs per spell.
