Cyclops

Big, stupid, and aggressive?  No, that's a Greco myth.  Marvelous superhero?
Nope.  Cyclopes (yes, that's the plural) are master craftspeople, also capable
of heroic feats of strength.

They're big, not as big as giants, but big enough to get the job done.
Especially if the job is to BARGE down a door (they get that skill for free).
Plus, they have the innate ability to sense hidden life and hidden objects such as
kenders and car keys (which haven't been invented yet).

Their Achilles heel would be that singular oculus which is highly prone to
being gouged (it's far easier to GOUGE a Cyclops than any other race).  It's
also really challenging to find eyepieces suited for a single eye (thank the
heavens for monocles!).  They also happen to be slower than the average
bear.  Not mentally, just physically.
