The Story of Kallisti

Kallisti does not keep its history in a book. The story of the world is written into the world — in the descriptions of its zones, the words of its people, and the quests that send you digging through both. What follows is what the archives do record; the rest you discover by playing.

Three decades of Kallisti

The game itself has a history longer than most of its players: born in 1992, reborn as Eris, and Legends of Kallisti since 1998.

Kallisti was created in 1992 where it ran in Oregon until 1995 when it shutdown
and reopened as Eris in 1996. It ran under that name until 1998 when it was
renamed Legends of Kallisti MUD. Kallisti has no plans to discontinue
its free service in the future.

The Immortals

The closest thing Kallisti documents to a pantheon is its Immortals — the creators who build the zones, run the quests, and prefer to stay invisible while doing it.

The implementors are the ones who essentially keep everything in the mud working
the way it should. Implementors perform many tasks, which include the creation
of new areas, running of quests, writing new spells and skills, and so on.

Implementors are usually not present on WHO with the exception of AVATARS who
are present to help new people with questions or problems. At Kallisti, the
implementors prefer to use a "hands-off" policy and normally will not be visible.
Please do not ask Gods what the best equipment is, how to solve a puzzle,
how many hitpoints a particular foe has, or other such questions. If you
need to contact an immortal to report major bugs or rule abuse then please do
so, using the REQUEST channel. ( mudmail is the second best way if they are
not online). A list of owners/implementors is available with the WIZLIST
command.

Where the lore lives

The deep history — the sorrow of the elves, the feuds under the mountains, what fell from the hole in the sky — is told where it happened. Start here:
